Ronald Acuna of the Atlanta Braves, one of the top five players in all of baseball, has finally made his return to the Atlanta lineup but has struggled in his first four games.
MLB News: Ronald Acuna Jr. Struggling In Return To Atlanta Braves
Acuna's Injury In 2021
In the 2021 season, Acuna went down after only playing 82 games with an ACL injury. He went to catch a ball in deep right field and ended up landing awkwardly, leading to the tear.
This was a huge loss for the Atlanta Braves, but they were able to get some contributions out of other guys and ended up winning the World Series. If they had him on the field, it would have been much easier for them to accomplish what they did.
Acuna's Career Pre-Injury
Ronald Acuna's career prior to his injury was one of the best starts in baseball history. At only 24 years old, he has hit 105 home runs and has a career batting average of .280. Not only is he one of the best offensive players that the game has seen in quite some time, but he can steal bags at an elite level and also is a plus defender.
Ronald Acuna's Start To The Season
Unfortunately for Acuna, he's only managed to hit point .176 this season and already has eight strikeouts through 17 at-bats. Considering that he missed nearly a year with his ACL injury, it certainly makes sense. Atlanta fans and the owners know that it's going to take some time for him to get back on track.
No one in Atlanta is concerned with how he's going to play once he gets the repetition. Acuna showed his power in a few rehab games in the minor leagues, which is a positive sign.
Can Acuna Bounce Back For Atlanta?
There is zero question at the moment if Ronald Acuna is going to be able to bounce back. With as special of a talent as he is and the type of work that he put in to get himself healthy, it's only going to lead to monster production once he gets some at-bats under his belt.
An ACL injury is one of the toughest things to come back from in all of sports, but with Acuna still only being 24 years old, there should be no doubt that he's going to return to the type of player that he was prior to his injury.
The Atlanta Braves are once again going to be one of the top teams in all of baseball once he gets going, which should have Braves fans excited about the rest of the year.
